Vinci is situated on the slopes of Montalbano, in a green countryside, among vineyards and olive groves which produce excellent wine and a fine oil. Ancient village of medieval origins, in 1245 was subdued by Florence. April 15, 1452, in locality Anchiano, Leonardo was born: his genius, universally acknowledged sights are associated with the most suggestive of the city. The fortress that houses one of the two locations of the Leonardo Museum and in which are preserved, coats of arms, frescoes and a precious terracotta attributed to Giovanni della Robbia. The other houses the Museum is in Uzielli, anticipated by the original square, project by Mimmo Paladino. Complete the city tour the large wooden sculpture by Mario Ceroli, inspired Vitruvian man of Leonardo. For an ancient path through the olive groves you will reach Anchiano, the birthplace of Leonardo, typical rural dwelling fifteenth. Museum Leopardi is proposed as one of the most extensive and original collections of machines and specimen forms of Leonrdo, inventor, technological engineer. Each model is represented with specific references to the handwritten notes and sketches of the artist. The machines on display, about 60 models, ranging between different fields of study: the construction machinery in the textile, machines for military ones for flight, the 'chariot propelled' the majestic model of the crane made for the completion of the cusp of the dome Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence. Finally, the room dedicated to optical studies of Leonardo in the physics of light.
